Visual Art: Graffiti, etc

Juxtapoz.com-  INSA, our subscriber cover artist in September 2010, is in San Francisco at the moment, preparing for his solo show, MORE, at FIFTY24SF Gallery. In the meantime, INSA has painted two mural pieces in SF, both featuring his iconic "Heel" pattern.  Click here for entire article and spread.

I love graffiti and consider it an unbelievable artform.  If you haven't seen the documentry Exit Through the Gift Shop, click on the title and you can watch it (you've got all weekend!).  The documentary follows a French Shopkeeper in LA, who gets obsessed with Graffiti, and starts filming artist like Shepard Fairy and Banksy (whose true identity still remains unknown).  Once he tracks down the elusive Banksy, the film takes uniquely profound, as well as ironic turn, and the eccentric shopkeeper's life, along with the art world, is never the same.  It's up for an Oscar this year in case you needed a more legitimate reason to see it.  Boom! Instant knowledge.

-Thanks to Ben from VA for the INSA link, see you on tour this summer!

  1. Great read in that article also. His whole show is great look at the pursuit of "more". Especially in American consumerism. Good looks.
