I Drink Alone.

One of my favorite Irish Pubs. "Lillie's" @ 13 East 17th St, Manhattan  www.lilliesnyc.com
I've been having conversations recently with patrons regarding drinking by oneself.  Then I read a great blog post by Joe over at Dappered that addressed the topic and had to give my take.

There's nothing wrong with drinking alone.  As long as you keep it classy. Por ejemplo:
  • You're not looking to get drunk aka "win the party" aka drinking until you can't feel feelings.
  • You're unwinding at a familiar spot
  • You have a familiar spot, which also means you have to establish a report somewhere. Keeping it classy means doing your due diligence on the mature drinking circuit. No one said this would be easy.
  • Try to keep the cell use to a minimum, take in the atmosphere aka "Drink it all in" (hopefully it goes down smooth)
  • *Don't talk the Bartender's ear off* (unless they engage you).
  • Order a drink that you can take your time to enjoy.  Think of it as a better-tasting version of mediation.
  • If you're the existential type, take a pen & paper
This a great way to unwind after work while everyone else at the gym.  Don't worry about them, Working-Out is just a trend.  Depending on your personality, this can be also be executed before meeting someone significant.  If they aren't cool with it though, you might want to question a few things....

P.s. Don't ever quote/whistle/or think of this song
P.p.s. If you dress like this, alcoholism isn't your only problem:
