She brought chocolates

Fresh off her People's Choice Award Win at the Phili Chili Bowl, here's Chef Christine of The Cedar Kitchen

Oh boy, have I got a recipe for all you chocolate lovers out there! This chocolate tart is so phenomenally easy to make, and doesn’t involve any baking at all (ok, well 10 minutes for the crust, but that’s it!) You can make this dessert a day in advance, and it will only take you about 20 minutes from beginning to end. To give it a little twist I added orange zest, but I think this dessert would be lovely with lemon or lime as well. Serve this with a dollop of whipped cream and lots of spoons, I promise you won’t have any leftovers!
Velvety Chocolate Tart with Orange Zest (Prep: 5, Cook: 20, Serves: 6-8)
Ingredients
  • 5 oz of chocolate graham crackers
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips, about 12 oz
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 orange, zested (have extra for topping)
  • whipped cream, for garnish
Instructions
  1. For the crust:
  2. Pre-heat the oven to 350
  3. In a food processor combine the graham crackers and 5 tablespoons of butter
  4. Pulse until well combined
  5. Pour the crumbs into a pie pan and push until flattened and form a crust with you fingers
  6. Bake for 10 minutes and let sit until ready to pour in the chocolate mix
  7. For the filling:
  8. Bring the heavy cream to boil, then reduce to a simmer
  9. Whisk in the chips, and keep mixing until melted
  10. Add the cocoa powder and orange zest until well combined
  11. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and mix until combined as well
  12. Pour chocolate filling into the crust and let sit in the fridge until firm (about 1 hour)
  13. Before serving, zest a bit of a fresh orange on top of the cake
  14. Slice and enjoy with lots of whipped cream on the side!
